Discover Finale Ligure.
FinalMarina
Finalmarina is the first of three urban centers that form the city. Stretching along the coast between the mouths of the Pora and Sciusa rivers, despite transformations over recent decades, it still preserves ancient monumental and historical elements. Among these are the Church of Saint John the Baptist and the arch dedicated to Empress Margherita. In 1927, the autonomous municipality of Finalmarina was merged with Finalborgo and Finalpia, forming Finale Ligure.
FinalPia
Finalpia is the second of the three urban centers and mainly stretches along the banks of the Sciusa river. Once a land of farms and fields, it transformed into a tourist and residential area, especially after the post-war development. The main historic center developed around the Abbey Church of Santa Maria. In 1868, both Calvisio and Varigotti, then autonomous, requested to be united with Finalpia, thus sharing its fate.
FinalBorgo
Finalborgo is the third of the three centers of Finale Ligure. Its greatest development took place in the Middle Ages as the capital of the Marchesate of Finale, ruled by the Del Carretto family, and under Spanish rule (17th century). The village was developed inland in a defensible location to prevent Saracen landings. The Aquila and Pora rivers form a natural moat, and the walls encircle the village, protected to the north by Castel San Giovanni and Castel Gavone.
